Teachers and parents are really excited about the opportunity to use mentoring and to share our different skills and life experiences to help students and I’m sure mentors from the business sector will also gain from their experience at St Cecilia’s.

Working together to create bright futures

The learning and experiences we gain in primary school have the power to shape our lives in the future. As the only private school in Port Hedland, St Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School has gained a reputation for providing a friendly, inclusive and welcoming environment for young students.

With over 200 students, St Cecilia’s welcomes families from all cultures, with a strong curriculum that focuses on Science & Technology, Technology & Enterprise, Library and Health & Physical Education.

Thanks to ongoing support from the Roy Hill Community Foundation, St Cecilia’s is able to offer a thriving scholarship program for young Aboriginal students in the region. 28 students currently benefit from this scholarship across Kindergarten to Year 6, with both full and part scholarships available.

The program has already seen a number of positive results, with the scholarship students reporting a marked increase in attendance rates, together with opportunities to pursue a range of subjects and extra-curricular activities to continue strengthening their abilities and achievements.

Being able to have such a positive impact on young lives in the region is incredibly rewarding. These students all have a bright future ahead, with many more chapters to add to their stories.
